We were very happy to be invited to the Invest in Provence soirée organised by Provence Promotion at the Docks in Marseille in December dedicated to celebrating the success of companies that have recently invested in the Provence area and which highlighted the need for cultural consulting.
Provence Promotion is an economic development agency in the Bouches-du-Rhône which was created by the Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Conseil Général (the Departement Council) to assist French and foreign companies in their relocation to the Provence Alpes Côtes d’Azur region in the South of France.
Philippe Stéfanini, CEO of Provence Promotion, and his team highlighted the four main reasons for investing in the Provence region as world openness, well-being, diversification and growth.
We enjoyed interesting meetings with business leaders from all over the world, and more particularly their sharing of backgrounds and testimonials on why they decided to move here and how they prepared for the change. Participants came from various sectors and backgrounds, and we got the chance to discuss the different aspects of the process of relocating, both from a professional and a personal point of view.
Cultural consulting and market research
Through our discussions we were able to affirm that moving to another country or region can be scary and stressful if it is not planned in a correct manner and if you do not know enough about your new market beforehand.
You will surely need assistance during the different stages of your project to find your way through financing, laws, regulations, applications and formalities in your new market or region.
The best advice I can give is to make sure you gather the widest range of economic data and general information about the country you relocate to, make sure you get the best tax advices and financial aid available and that your create partnerships with potential and future commercial, industrial or scientific partners. And last but not least, do not forget to facilitate your co-workers’ integration into their new environment.
Establishing your business abroad requires your highest level of attention in order to avoid the most common mistakes and misunderstandings. You can of course avoid these traps by choosing to invest in cultural consulting and market research from a language specialist and marketing partner.
